We are an international team of experts and engineers who have spent their careers expanding the boundaries and potential of space, now united in pursuit of a single vision. We value trust, open communication and collaboration to achieve the best results together.
Now we are looking for the best talents for our locations in Munich and Berlin to help us make our vision come true.
Your mission
As a Space Policy and Regulatory Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in Rivada's advocacy for global regulatory best practices and advancing sustainable space operations. By analysing debris mitigation models, supporting market access activities, and contributing to the development of our Space Sustainability Policies, you will write inputs and advocacy material that will help shape the future of proportionate service usage terms and responsible satellite operations. Your work will directly impact Rivada's alignment with national and international sustainability goals in a large variety of forums, supporting our mission to deliver innovative, sustainable connectivity solutions worldwide.
This includes:- Analyse and assess existing tools for debris analysis models, such as NASA's DAS and ESA tools (DRAMA, MASTER, DISCOS, etc), with a focus on collision risk assessment, reliability, and deorbit methodologies
- Conduct debris assessments using the above tools and technical analysis to support compliance with requirements, such as FCC ORDMP and other debris mitigation requirements, ensuring alignment with Rivada’s needs for outer space, regulatory and market access compliances
- Develop technical documentation to demonstrate compliance with orbital debris mitigation requirements, including FCC regulations, ESA Zero Debris goals, and emerging national, regional and international standards
- Monitor and interpret existing satellite space safety regulations, including domestic, regional and international frameworks for satellite launches, operations, deorbiting, and the preservation of human life in space
- Assist in drafting responses to national and international public consultations on regulatory, spectrum, and sustainability matters
- Support the development and implementation of Rivada’s Space Debris Mitigation and Space Sustainability Policies, including researching best practices and future standards like the ESA Zero Debris Charter
- Create and manage a comprehensive database, with an appropriate reporting tool, to track past, ongoing, and upcoming national consultations on regulatory, spectrum, and space sustainability topics
- Maintain and enhance internal documentation related to space sustainability activities, ensuring alignment with Rivada's strategic objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Track and evaluate the impact of changes in market access and spectrum management on Rivada and relevant stakeholders at global, regional, and national levels, considering technical, economic, and regulatory factors
- Collaborate with the Market Access and Spectrum teams to synthesise technical information and integrate a commercial perspective into spectrum-related activities
- Actively engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, trade associations, and international organizations, to present and advocate for Rivada’s sustainability and regulatory positions
- Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate and compile input on topics such as orbital debris mitigation, collision avoidance, dark and quiet skies preservation, and post-mission disposal of space objects etc
- Provide regular updates to management using clear and concise language
