Senior (MBSE) Model-Based System Engineering – Systems Engineer

Munich
Full-time
Permanent employee

Who we are

Welcome to one of Europe’s most innovative space companies. Rivada Space Networks is building the Outernet, a new class of communications infrastructure—the world’s first truly private and secure satellite network built for enterprises and governments. Our international team ranges from industry newcomers to experts who have dedicated their careers to advancing satcom technology.

Your mission

The RSN system consisting of its space, ground, user, and launch segments is currently be engineered to bring to life this exciting constellation and you will be part of the team that oversees this system engineering. Your mission is to strengthen our team bringing a strong background in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE), reporting to the MBSE Manager from our office in Munich.

You will be joining an interdisciplinary team and have an overview of the various system interfaces with the goal to consolidate them to ensure compatibility between the various segments and subsystems. You will focus on the development of MBSE models to ensure a consistent, coherent and complete system design and enable a systematic interface management.

This includes:

  • Contributing know-how to RSN’s system engineering team in the domain of model-based system engineering and interface management
  • Development of Model-based system engineering models with a focus on functional analysis, functional allocation, interfaces and data modelling
  • Development and implementation of Model-based Systems Engineering solutions supporting co-development with internal and external stakeholders on segment and subsystem modeling, e.g., integrating supplier provisioned subsystem model
  • Development and implementation of Model-based Systems Engineering solutions to support the process of automating interface management process
  • Provide MBSE support to produce project deliverable documents according to the program requirements
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Model-based Systems Engineering solutions for better integration of engineering processes and tools across all disciplines
  • Analyze and efficiently present engineering results
  • Occasional travel may be required

What you bring on the table

  • Successfully completed a degree in aerospace, electrical engineering, or similar fields of study
  • Proven experience in Model-based Systems Engineering methodologies and tools
  • Preferably, practical experience with ARCADIA methodology and Capella tool
  • Extended knowledge of systems engineering processes, methods, tools and standards
  • Strong System Thinking and ability to understand and synthesise complex issue
  • Several years of experience working with system interfaces preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Understanding of behavioural/functional modelling of communication systems preferably wireless communication systems
  • Background in scripting/coding and experience with a programming language (Python, Matlab, Java, VBA, or similar)
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to communicate in well-written technical documents
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and in an international environment
  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Why you should join us

Working with us gives you the opportunity to help redefine what communications looks like and make decisions that will have a lasting global impact.
We value equality and collaboration at work where different opinions, backgrounds, and experiences are not only welcomed but often necessary to achieve ambitious milestones. Everyone is encouraged to contribute, question, and shape how we move forward—an essential approach to thriving in a fast-paced industry.

About us

Rivada Space Networks is deploying the Outernet: the first unified global communications network. Rivada's global low-latency point-to-point network of 600 low earth orbit (LEO) satellites is a unique next-generation constellation combining inter-satellite laser links with advanced onboard processing and routing to create a ubiquitous optical mesh network in space. This "orbital network," in which data stays in space from origin to destination, creates an ultra-secure satellite network with pole-to-pole coverage, offering end-to-end latencies much lower than terrestrial fiber over long distances. And by routing traffic on a physically separated network, it provides a layer of defense for any organization that needs to securely share data between widely distributed sites.
